Why choose a Certified Orthotist?The Certified Orthotist (C.O.) has successfully qualified for and passed a riqorous examination process by the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists. Requirements include successful completion of recognized schooling, and a twenty-two month internship. In Ontario technical and clinical training is offered through George Brown College with classes being taught at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto as well as clinicallly being affiliated with the Bloorview MacMillan Rehabilitation Centre and Chedoke McMaster Hospital. Certification is the recognition that the orthotist has met established standards and reflects commitment to the profession and clients. In Ontario Canada, the only individuals able to bill the Ministry of Health for long term use, custom made orthoses are Certified Orthotists. |
